Vietnam Airlines increases carry-on allowance to 12kg

The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines is increasing the combined weight of hand baggage item and an accessory to from 7kg to 12kg for Economy Class passengers under its new policy which will take effect from August 1.

Meanwhile, Business Class and Premium Economy passengers will be able to bring a carry-on bag as heavy as 18kg.

In addition to hand baggage, which width x heights x depth dimensions must not exceed 115cm (56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm, passengers can bring an accessory which should not exceed 40 x 30 x 15 cm.

Except for hand baggage and accessories, passenger may take some personal items on board without having to pay a fee.

For checked baggage, Economy Class passengers are allowed to be checked in with free allowance with one kind of baggage which must not exceed 23kg on domestic routes and routes within Southeast Asia and to Europe and Australia; or two pieces of baggage weighing less than 23kg for those travelling on routes to Japan and the US.

Meanwhile, Business Class passengers are offered the following free baggage allowance: 32 kg for one piece of baggage on domestic routes and routes in Southeast Asia, or 32kg for two pieces of baggage on routes in Northeast Asia, Europe, Australia and the US.

Premium Economy Class passengers are provided with a free baggage allowance of 23kg for two pieces of baggage on routes in Northeast Asia and to Western Europe, Australia and the US.
