Speaking at a press conference held on April 23, President of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association (HTA) Nguyen Thi Khanh said that the festival event will feature around 150 booths displaying products of renowned banh mi brands which are more than 50 years old as well as restaurants, bakeries, and suppliers of materials and bread-making tools.

A space will be set up to introduce visitors to the history and development of ‘banh mi’ through photos and articles on Vietnamese ‘banh mi’ in different periods of time.

On the occasion, cooks and bakers will join hands to install a dragon-shaped welcome gate made from ‘banh mi’.

Other highlights of the festival include seminars on Vietnamese ‘banh mi’, an event to cook 150 side dishes with ‘banh mi’, and a startup programme for women and pastry students.

The festival aims to promote the value of the Vietnamese ‘banh mi’ and Vietnamese cuisine in general to international gourmets while honouring the skill and creativity of bakers.
