Festival honours the most popular and oldest ‘banh mi’ brands in Vietnam

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism and the City Tourism Association held a gala dinner for the first-ever Vietnam Banh Mi Festival on March 31 to honour the most popular and oldest ‘banh mi’ ( bread ) brands in Vietnam.

The record-setting organisation VIETKINGS awarded certificates to the 5 most famous and oldest bread brands in Vietnam: Cu Ly Bread, Tang Bread, Tuan 7 Keo Bread, Bay Ho Bread, and Nguyen Sinh BisTro-Est. 1942 Bread.

According to the organising committee, the festival attracted thousands of visitorsin its first two days, especially the pavilions of the oldest banh mi’brands in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam in general.

After more than 50 years of establishment and development, the most popular and long-standing bread brands have contributed to the formation of the cultural identity of Vietnamese people and as well as to spreading the image of the land and people of Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam.

Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism Le Truong Hien Hoa said 'banh mi' has become an iconic dish that helps people to recall the tourism of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City.

At the gala dinner, the Vietnam Tourism Association also awarded Certificates of Merit to 10 groups and 18 individuals who made great contributions to the first Vietnam Banh Mi Festival.
