An Giang opens Southern traditional cake festival

The Southern Traditional Cake Festival – An Giang, held in conjunction with the third tourism, trade and One Commune One Product (OCOP) product promotion fair, 2026, officially opened at the Golden City Urban Area in Long Xuyen Ward, An Giang Province, on the evening of July 31.

The event is jointly organised by the An Giang Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Centre, the People's Committee of Long Xuyen Ward, Golden Bell Trade Promotion Company Limited, together with provincial departments, local authorities, and businesses.

The festival will run until August 8, featuring around 300 booths and bringing together artisans, producers, businesses, and representatives from localities both within and beyond An Giang Province.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Viet Anh, Deputy Director of the An Giang Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Centre, said the organisers hoped the festival would provide a platform for artisans to showcase and demonstrate the making of traditional southern Vietnamese cakes.

The event also aims to promote OCOP goods and signature local products, while creating opportunities for businesses to network, establish commercial partnerships, and expand their markets, thereby contributing to the province's tourism and trade development.

It also offers residents and visitors the chance to experience the region's rich culinary heritage and gain a deeper appreciation of the traditional values that have been preserved in An Giang.

This year's festival features a wide range of activities, including demonstrations and exhibitions of traditional cakes, tourism and OCOP product showcases, regional food courts, a trade fair, nightly cultural performances, and numerous interactive experiences for visitors.

The organisers believe these activities will create a vibrant atmosphere and provide memorable experiences for all visitors.

The trade promotion and OCOP exhibition area brings together businesses, cooperatives, and production establishments from An Giang, alongside exhibitors from Vinh Long, Dong Thap, Tay Ninh, Dak Lak, Nghe An, Quang Ngai, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Ca Mau, Thai Nguyen, and Lam Dong. They are showcasing OCOP products, regional specialities, and outstanding rural industrial products, thereby creating opportunities to foster business connections and expand market access.
