The highlight of the programme was a performance recreating the royal procession in the space of the Hue Imperial City, along with a parade of people wearing ancient Vietnamese costumes through routes inside the Imperial Citadel. The event attracted numeorus local residents and tourists.
According to the organisers, the Vietnamese traditional costumes featured at the festival were reconstructed based on research into historical documents, fine arts, materials and costume characteristics of each period. The process involved researchers, artisans and groups practising traditional costumes to ensure authenticity and aesthetic value. Some costumes took many months to complete through manual processes, reflecting the meticulousness and skill of craftspeople.
This is an annual activity of the Bach Hoa Bo Hanh project, creating a space for the community of Vietnamese traditional costume loavers to meet, perform and introduce the values of traditional costumes.
The programme helps bring Vietnamese traditional costumes closer to contemporary life through experiential activities and cultural exchanges, while promoting the image of Hue’s heritage to local residents and visitors.
