Running until July 26, the event aims to honour and promote the Hue beef noodle soup brand, contribute to preserving the city's traditional culinary heritage, and develop signature tourism products.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Tran Thi Hoai Tram, Director of the Hue Department of Tourism, stressed that Hue is a city rich in cultural heritage, with its cuisine representing one of its most distinctive cultural assets.
She noted that Hue beef noodle soup is not merely a celebrated dish but also a cultural symbol, reflecting the history, people and identity of the former imperial capital. The choice of "Hue Beef Noodle Day" as the event's theme underscores the city's determination to establish Hue beef noodle soup as a flagship cultural and tourism product, helping position Hue as a leading cultural and tourism destination in Viet Nam and the region.
The programme brings together 80 exhibition booths hosted by restaurants, businesses, culinary artisans, traditional craft villages and chefs' associations from Hue, alongside participants from Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Nghe An, Dien Bien, Phu Tho, Quang Tri, Da Nang, Binh Dinh, Gia Lai and Ho Chi Minh City. In addition to Hue beef noodle soup, visitors have the opportunity to sample a wide variety of regional specialities and One Commune One Product (OCOP) items.
Throughout the four-day event, a series of highlights will take place, including the National Hue Beef Noodle Soup Festival, an attempt to set a record for the largest live preparation and serving of Hue beef noodle soup for a mass audience, the artistic performance "The Legend of Van Cu and the Huong Ngu Symphony", as well as cultural exchanges, culinary experiences and community arts performances.
The organisers hope the programme will further reinforce the status of Hue beef noodle soup on both the Vietnamese and international culinary map, while continuing to promote Hue as a distinctive destination for culture, tourism and gastronomy.
