The festival was held in Augsburg, a beautiful historic city and the third largest in Bavaria, with more than 20 pavilions representing various countries. The event celebrated cultural diversity and promoted exchanges among communities living in the locality.
The Vietnamese pavilion attracted large numbers of visitors with traditional dishes such as fresh spring rolls, fried spring rolls, and bun cha, alongside displays of ao dai, conical hats, and cultural performances imbued with national identity. These activities helped spread Vietnamese culture and strengthen mutual understanding and ties between the Vietnamese community, the German people, and international friends.
The programme was jointly organised by Huong Viet Magazine, the Viet Nam-Germany Association in Swabia and the Association of Vietnamese People in Freising, Bavaria.
Visiting the Vietnamese pavilion, Claudia Roth, a member of the German Bundestag, and Martin Schenkelberg, Head of the Integration and Social Affairs Department of Augsburg City, highly appreciated the Vietnamese community’s contributions to promoting culture, advancing people-to-people exchanges, and strengthening friendship between Viet Nam and Germany. The two guests also expressed their impression of Viet Nam’s traditional cuisine and distinctive cultural beauty.
Pham Khanh Nam, Editor-in-Chief of Huong Viet Magazine, said the festival provided an opportunity to introduce the image of a dynamic Viet Nam rich in cultural identity and proactive in international integration. It also helped strengthen links with European partners and expand cooperation in culture, trade, investment, and sustainable development, while promoting international economic integration and cooperation with the European Union (EU).
Such exchanges also contribute to greater mutual understanding and create a favourable foundation for Viet Nam to make effective use of opportunities arising from the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), thereby further promoting substantive and sustainable economic and trade cooperation between Viet Nam and the EU.
Viet Nam’s presence at the Augsburg Multicultural Summer Festival 2026 once again affirmed the role of cultural diplomacy and people-to-people exchanges in enhancing mutual understanding and trust, thereby contributing to stronger friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and Germany, as well as with international partners.
