The handover of the project from the Vietnamese Government to the Lao Government on July 1 was attended by Viet Nam’s Deputy Defence Minister Colonel General Vo Minh Luong and his Lao counterpart Thongloi Silivong, as well as officials and residents of Champasak.
The project, worth 54 billion VND (2 million USD), was funded by Vietnamese aid. Construction commenced in April and the project was completed within just three months.
Speaking at the event, Colonel General Vo Minh Luong emphasised that this project carries special significance as a symbol of the close bond between the two countries.
It will also help educate today’s and future’s generations to better understand the friendship and fighting alliance between the two countries.
For his part, Lao Deputy Defence Minister Thongloi Silivong noted that the project will contribute to strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Viet Nam.
In a solemn atmosphere, Vietnamese and Lao delegates expressed their profound gratitude for the heroes and fallen soldiers who fought and sacrificed themselves for the independence and freedom of both countries.
