Vilay Lakhamfong, Politburo Member and Standing Member of the Secretariat of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, will lead a high-ranking Lao delegation on an official visit to Viet Nam from October 14 to 16.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung’s official visits to Laos and Cambodia carry significant political and diplomatic importance, helping strengthen political trust, advance bilateral cooperation and create new development opportunities, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung has said.

Vietnamese Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang and his Lao counterpart, Senior Lieutenant General Vanthong Kongmany, met in Vientiane on October 9 to discuss bilateral cooperation and agree on measures to strengthen coordination in combating transnational crime.

Chieng Tuong Border Guard Station, under the Son La Provincial Border Guard Command, conducted a joint patrol with Border Guard Company 213, under the Military Command of Houaphanh Province in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, along their assigned border section on October 9.

The Lao News Agency (KPL) said in an article published on October 7 that Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung's upcoming official visit to Laos will further consolidate the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion between the two countries' Parties, States and peoples.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left Ha Noi on October 8 for official visits to Laos and Cambodia from October 8-10 at the invitations of Lao PM Saleumxay Kommasith and Cambodian PM Hun Manet.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung affirmed Viet Nam’s highest priority is to consolidate its special solidarity with Laos, pledging closer coordination with the neighbouring country to remove obstacles and facilitate bilateral investment and business cooperation.

An exhibition featuring 50 paintings of President Ho Chi Minh by late overseas Vietnamese artist Dao Trong Ly opened at the Vietnamese Culture Centre in Vientiane, Laos, on August 27.
