Speaking at the ceremony, Acting President Delcy Rodríguez highly appreciated Ambassador Vu Trung My’s contributions to promoting and deepening the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between Venezuela and Viet Nam.
She emphasised that during his tenure, the Vietnamese diplomat had made significant contributions to strengthening ties between the two countries through all channels, including party, state, national assembly, and people-to-people exchanges.
Regarding bilateral cooperation, the Venezuelan leader noted that the two countries currently maintain numerous bilateral cooperation agreements.
Building on the outcomes of Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung’s visit to Venezuela in June 2026, the two sides agreed on a bilateral cooperation agenda focusing on key areas such as energy, telecommunications, defence, security, culture, and especially agriculture.
Acting President Delcy Rodríguez stressed that the Venezuelan government and people always value Viet Nam’s solidarity and wholehearted support and assistance, as demonstrated during the recent earthquake disaster in the South American country.
Sharing her admiration for Viet Nam’s remarkable development during her visit to Viet Nam in October 2024, Acting President Delcy affirmed that Viet Nam has always been a source of inspiration and a model of resilience in safeguarding independence and sovereignty.
She also expressed her belief that, regardless of the position he holds in the future, Ambassador Vu Trung My will continue to serve as a steadfast bridge of friendship between the two peoples.
For his part, Ambassador Vu Trung My affirmed that the order was not merely an honour for him personally, but above all stands as recognition by the Party, State, and people of Venezuela of the Party, State, and people of Viet Nam, their traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership, as well as the positive achievements in the development of bilateral relations.
My emphasised that in the future he would continue to serve as a bridge and contribute to strengthening solidarity, friendship, and comprehensive, substantive cooperation between Viet Nam and Venezuela.
The Order of Francisco de Miranda is one of Venezuela’s highest decorations, established to honour individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the cause of protecting and building Venezuela as well as to the development of friendship between Venezuela and other countries.
