The VFF boss made the remark in a letter of sympathy and encouragement addressed to the domestic football community in the context of hardships due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The outbreak of coronavirus has brought the football world to a standstill, with most leagues having been suspended, including football activities in Vietnam.
Hai reiterated that people’s health is the top priority and that the temporary suspension of tournaments is required so that football can join hands with the community in combating the disease.
“We hold that the spirit that football activities will only resume when the pandemic is well under control, social life returns to normal, and, especially, the permission is given by the Government and relevant agencies. This is also consistent with the views of FIFA and the AFC in their messages to member federations,” he said.
The VFF president praised member organisations, clubs and youth football training centres for their proactivity and high sense of responsibility to coordinate in combatting the disease and in the implementation of the Prime Minister’s directions and the VFF’s requirements on COVID-19 prevention and control, as well as for their active participation in making donations to the country’s joint battle for the pandemic.
In addition to the most important task of ensuring the people’s safety, the Standing Board of the VFF Executive Committee has promptly directed the preparation of plans for the organisation of national tournaments to facilitate clubs’ proactivity when football activities are resumed, Hai stated.
“More than ever, this is a time for us to show the spirit of solidarity, responsibility, belief, aspiration, sharing, thinking, and practical action to overcome the challenges together, towards positive results and values in the near future. Internal strength, consensus, unity in opinion and action, and mutual trust and support will be key in helping Vietnamese football to stand firmly and thrive under any circumstances,” he emphasised.
