Vice President commemorates late President Ton Duc Thang

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan offered incense and flowers to the late President Ton Duc Thang on August 20 at his memorial site in An Giang Province, on the occasion of his 134th birth anniversary.

During her visit, Xuan asked the site management staff to better perform the task of collecting materials about President Ton Duc Thang and introducing the value of the site to visitors.

Born in 1888 when Vietnam was under French rule, Ton Duc Thang was deeply influenced by contemporary patriotic movements and soon joined the revolution.

With nearly 70 years of revolutionary activities, 27 years as President of the Lien Viet Front and the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and more than 10 years as President of Vietnam, Ton Duc Thang devoted his entire life to the Vietnamese revolution.

For his significant contributions to the country, he was given many noble accolades, including the Golden Star Order, Vietnam’s highest honour, the Lenin Order and the Lenin Peace Prize.
