[Video] Protecting intellectual property rights in digital environment

Nhan Dan Newspaper held a seminar entitled “Protecting Intellectual Property Rights in the Digital Environment – Removing Bottlenecks and Developing Digital Culture” in Ha Noi, on August 27. The event was attended by representatives from State management agencies, National Assembly deputies, legal experts, technology companies and press agencies.

At the seminar, experts called for improvements to legislation governing AI and digital copyright, stronger sanctions for infringements, the development of an interconnected system for managing and protecting digital copyright, and a transparent copyright marketplace. They also stressed the need for a rapid-response mechanism involving regulatory authorities, courts, internet service providers and digital platforms to deal promptly with infringements and prevent illicit financial flows.

The seminar concluded that there is a need to shift from a reactive approach to infringement enforcement towards managing the entire lifecycle of creative works – from establishing rights, identification and licensing to fair revenue distribution. Such an approach would help unlock creative resources and promote the development of Vietnam’s digital cultural industries.
