This year’s tournament brought together nearly 200 athletes from 36 delegations representing central and local press agencies. Competing across 14 events with a dense schedule, the matches were intense and captivating, delivering many fine rallies and dramatic point-by-point chases, demonstrating the athletes’ professional skill, competitive spirit and sportsmanship as members of the press.
Through each match, players showcased dexterity, endurance and flexible tactical adaptability, while spreading the spirit of teamwork, collegiality and strong determination. The wholehearted dedication of the athlete-journalists, members of the Viet Nam Journalists Association, together with the enthusiastic and responsible support of spectators, created a lively, cohesive competition atmosphere imbued with the festive spirit of the journalism community.
In his closing remarks, journalist Nguyen Duc Loi affirmed: “After three days of vibrant, intense and dramatic competition, the 18th Viet Nam Journalists Association Table Tennis Cup Championship 2025 has left many clear impressions and can be proudly assessed as a successful season. The tournament vividly reflected the image of journalists as resilient, persistent and strong-willed competitors in the sporting arena, continuing the spirit of physical training to fulfil their duties on the cultural and ideological front.”
The broad participation of athletes from press agencies nationwide contributed to the tournament’s wide-reaching impact, strengthening exchanges and bonds among journalists. Over many editions, the Viet Nam Journalists Association Table Tennis Cup Championship has continued to affirm itself as a reputable annual traditional sporting activity, organised in an orderly and systematic manner, and increasingly attracting the attention of the journalism community.
Within the framework of the closing ceremony, the Organising Committee awarded first, second and third prizes to athletes across 14 competition events.
The organisation of diverse competition events, suitable for various groups and age ranges, created favourable conditions for broad participation by members of the Viet Nam Journalists Association, enhancing the reach of the sports movement within the press community. The finals took place in a dignified yet vibrant atmosphere, attracting close attention and enthusiastic support from numerous delegates and spectators.
Notably, the Nhan Dan Journalists Association delegation, with eight athletes competing in six events, won three bronze medals. This result reflected a serious and responsible competitive spirit, contributing to the overall success of the tournament.
Concluding its 18th season, the Viet Nam Journalists Association Table Tennis Cup Championship continues to affirm its practical significance in enhancing cultural and spiritual life, strengthening physical fitness among journalists, and creating a space for exchange, connection and solidarity within the Viet Nam Journalists Association system. The tournament’s success provides a solid foundation for the journalism sports movement to be sustained and developed in a stable and long-term manner in the years ahead.
