Participants watched a documentary tracing Viet Nam’s 80-year journey of nation-building, protection, and development with historic milestones and major socio-economic achievements.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Le Quang Long emphasised the historic significance of September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square, marking the birth of the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam, now the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. The declaration, Long said, marked the beginning of an era of national liberation not only in Viet Nam but also across colonies in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Over the past eight decades, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, the country has overcome immense challenges, rising from poverty and devastation to achieve remarkable socio-economic development and growing international stature. These attainments provide a firm foundation for Viet Nam to advance to an era of the nation's rise and build a modern, prosperous, and civilised nation, the ambassador stressed.
He expressed Viet Nam’s gratitude for the precious friendship, solidarity, and support from peace-loving nations and international friends, including Cuba.
The celebration concluded with guests enjoying traditional Vietnamese cuisine and cultural performances in a warm atmosphere of solidarity and friendship.
