Viet Nam–Venezuela comprehensive partnership expanded in new context

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela affirmed that the Venezuelan Government and the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) attach great importance to solidarity and cooperation with Viet Nam, and expressed the desire of both sides to further strengthen and expand cooperation within the framework of the Viet Nam–Venezuela Comprehensive Partnership in the new context.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Yván Gil hosted a warm reception for Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My at the headquarters of the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on February 2.

At the meeting, Minister Yván Gil expressed his admiration for and high appreciation of Viet Nam’s significant socio-economic development achievements, as well as its increasingly elevated international stature and prestige in the course of the Doi Moi (Renewal) process. He affirmed that the Venezuelan Government and the United Socialist Party of Venezuela place great importance on solidarity and cooperation with Viet Nam, and wish to further strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation within the framework of the Comprehensive Partnership between Venezuela and Viet Nam in the new context.

Minister Yván Gil proposed that the two countries closely coordinate efforts to soon resume and effectively maintain bilateral cooperation mechanisms, particularly the Fourth Meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee and political consultations between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs. He also suggested reviewing existing agreements and cooperation projects, as well as potential initiatives and projects aligned with the strengths and needs of both sides, in order to formulate a new bilateral agenda that would help promote the Comprehensive Partnership for the benefit of the two peoples, and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in each region and the world.

For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My briefed the Minister on the main outcomes of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam. He noted that the Congress had recently concluded with important decisions that opened a new phase of development, reflecting Viet Nam's strong determination and aspiration to rise further. The Congress set the goal of becoming a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income by 2030, and realising the vision of becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045, for a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilised and happy Viet Nam, steadily advancing towards socialism.

Ambassador Vu Trung My underscored the consistent stance of the Party, State and people of Viet Nam in always valuing the traditional friendship and solidarity with the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, the Government and the people of Venezuela. He reaffirmed Viet Nam’s desire to further consolidate and deepen traditional cooperation, and to promote the Viet Nam–Venezuela relationship in a more substantive and effective manner.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Yván Gil Pinto warmly congratulated the Communist Party of Viet Nam on the successful conclusion of its 14th National Congress.

On the occasion of Viet Nam’s traditional Lunar New Year of Horse 2026, Minister Yván Gil extended his best wishes to the Vietnamese people and the entire Vietnamese community in Venezuela for a peaceful and prosperous New Year.
