At the opening of Vietnam’s book space on October 16, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam stated that the country of Vietnam is rich in history and culture, with the book printing industry having begun in the 15th century.

He added that Vietnam is proud to introduce more than 1,000 publications on politics, economics, culture and science at the book fair, noting that this is an occasion to promote Vietnamese culture and connect Vietnamese and world culture.

One of Vietnam’s goals at the 2024 Frankfurt Book Fair is fostering international cooperation.

The Vietnamese delegation had a working session with the Frankfurt Trade Fair leaders to discuss the signing of a memorandum of understanding on Vietnam becoming an honorary guest of the book fair in 2028.

The Vietnamese delegation also discussed cooperation with representatives of the publishing industry from Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and India.

Within the framework of the book fair, Vietnamese publishers met and negotiated publishing rights with over 50 international publishers, opening many opportunities for the development of the book market in Vietnam.
