The event attracted a large number of enterprises from the Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region – a region boasting high potential for cooperation and favourable geographical location for trade exchange with Cambodia.
Increasing the efficiency of trade exchange, protecting the legitimate interests of enterprises and experience in cross-border clearance of goods are among topics attracting much attention of delegates at the forum.
Speaking at the forum, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia, Vu Quang Minh, affirmed that the organisation of many investment, trade and tourism promotion activities in both Vietnam and Cambodia in the past two weeks demonstrated the great interest of enterprises of both sides in cross-border investment and business opportunities.
Director of VCCI Can Tho, Nguyen Phuong Lam, emphasised that VCCI always considers Cambodia a close, important and reliable partner of Vietnam. The Mekong Delta region is the Vietnam’s largest agricultural region which shares the border lines with Cambodia.
The region also has a similar population and natural conditions compared to Cambodia and is considered to be the most favourable place to cooperate with Cambodia, Lam noted.
The trade revenue between Vietnam and Cambodia reached US$4.7 billion in 2018, up 23.8% compared to 2017 and hit US$4.4 billion in the first 10 months of 2019, up 13.8% compared to the same period last year.
Vietnam has so far invested in 214 projects in Cambodia worth total US$3.07 billion, ranking in the top five countries with largest investment in Cambodia.
The forum was jointly held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (VCCI) Can Tho city branch, the Tien Giang Business Club in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Business Club in Cambodia (VBCC), Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, and the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia.
