Phan Van Quy, Vice President of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association, made this statement during the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Gathering held to mark the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1960–2025) and the 64th anniversary of the Giron Victory (1961–2025). The event took place in Vinh Phuc Province on April 16, organised by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association in coordination with the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam.

In his remarks at the event, highlighting the significance of the historic Giron Victory in Cuban history, Phan Van Quy affirmed that the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association will continue to work closely with the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with Peoples (ICAP), and the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association to preserve and nurture the faithful and pure relationship between the peoples of the two nations.

Sharing at the gathering, Nguyen Huy Quang, Vice President of the Vinh Phuc Union of Friendship Organisations, stated that since Vinh Phuc and Mayabeque Province (Cuba) signed a cooperation agreement on September 26, 2024, the two sides have engaged in various meaningful exchanges such as letter correspondences, online meetings between provincial leaders, and cooperation in agriculture, education, and healthcare. Currently, Vinh Phuc is coordinating with Mayabeque to develop an action plan for future cooperation.

According to Nguyen Huy Quang, the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Gathering provides an opportunity for both sides to look back on their 65-year bond and open new prospects for future cooperation. Through this event, the people and business community of Vinh Phuc will become more connected with Cuban friends and partners, thus contributing to enhanced cooperation and strengthened friendship between the two nations.

Stressing the importance of the Giron Victory to the Cuban people, Cuban Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Joy Puentes Saldise noted that the victory is not only a source of pride for the Cuban people but also an inspiration to nations fighting for independence and sovereignty.

Cuban Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Joy Puentes Saldise praised the strong and sincere relationship between Vietnam and Cuba — a model of international cooperation based on revolutionary ideals. She emphasised that the partnership between Vinh Phuc and Mayabeque stands as a vivid example of the special friendship between the two countries.

He also stated that the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam is always ready to serve as a bridge to promote cooperation between localities of the two countries in the future, especially in areas of strength such as culture, education, healthcare, tourism, economics, and trade.
