Vietnam records high achievements at international AI Olympiad

Vietnamese students bagged one silver medal and one bronze medal at the first International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) 2024, held in Burgas, Bulgaria, from August 9 to 15.

Particularly, in the science category, the Vietnam 2 team from the High School for the Gifted under the Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City won a silver medal. Meanwhile, the Vietnam 1 team from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted secured the bronze medal.

With these achievements, Vietnam ranked 6th globally on the medal tally, following Russia, Poland, Singapore, China, and Hungary.

The first IOAI attracted about 40 teams from more than 30 countries and territories worldwide. This was the first global event of its kind, paralleling traditional Olympiads in subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, informatics, and biology, highlighting the fundamental importance of artificial intelligence.
