The event was attended by Ambassador of Viet Nam to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam and his spouse, Buddhist monks, and a large number of devotees and members of the Vietnamese community in Laos.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam said this was a time for the community to look back on the past year and welcome the new year with renewed hope. He extended New Year wishes of good health, peace and success to the Vietnamese community in Laos, and offered warm words of encouragement to poor households and families affected by disability. He expressed his hope that the gifts would help people enjoy a warmer and more joyful Tet.
The ambassador called on the community to continue upholding the tradition of unity and mutual support, striving to overcome difficulties, stabilise their lives, comply with the host country’s laws and preserve national cultural identity.
He also expressed his hope that the Vietnamese community in Laos would continue making positive contributions to nurturing the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic connectivity between Viet Nam and Laos.
A representative of the pagoda’s monks also expressed gratitude to the embassy and benefactors for joining hands to organise the meaningful activity on the occasion of the year-end ceremony, helping spread compassion and sharing within the community.
At the event, the organisers presented 100 gift packages, each worth 600,000 Lao kip, including rice, instant noodles, sugar, milk and fish sauce, to disadvantaged households and people with disabilities.
