Vietnamese embassy presents books to local library in Cambodia

The Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia has presented 500 book titles to the Cultural Centre and Library of Kampong Speu province, Cambodia.

The book presentation was made as part of the working session on November 14 between the embassy and local authorities to discuss bilateral educational cooperation and development of reading culture among Cambodian young people.

Speaking at the meeting, Kampong Speu Deputy Provincial Governor Sok Phea expressed his deep thanks to Vietnam for the country’s support to Cambodia and Kampong Speu province in particularly in many areas, including education.

Sok Phea, who was once a Cambodian student studying in Vietnam, stressed that Cambodia always eyes Vietnam as a good friend who have provided support for Cambodia during the country’s construction and development.

Lai Xuan Chien, a representative from the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, emphasised the need to preserve and uphold the bilateral relations among younger generations in the two countries.

He spoke highly of the cooperative outcomes between the two sides over the past years, including cooperation at local level.

The Kampong Speu library was built in 2015 and put into operation two years later. The library has been active in collecting publications and book titles to encourage reading habits and contribute to the human resource training for the province.

It has also acted as hosting venue for cultural and arts programmes, helping to promoting Cambodian culture to international friends.
