At a meeting with President of the UAE Federal National Council Amal al-Qubaisi on December 12 on the sidelines of the eleventh Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament, Ngan affirmed Vietnam treasures its friendship and cooperation with the UAE, expressing her delight at the development of Vietnam-UAE relations.
She lauded the preparation for the summit, contributing to improving the role and position of the UAE in the region and the world.
While highlighting the potential for the two sides to enhance economic links, especially in trade, investment, petroleum and labour, NA Chairwoman Ngan said the UAE was likely to become one of Vietnam’s leading economic partners.
For her part, al-Qubaisi shared her impressions of Vietnam after her trip to the country in 2015.
Appreciating the Vietnamese leader’s proposals at the summit, she said Vietnam’s experience offered useful lessons, contributing to the event’s agenda.
On the basis of effective cooperation in many fields, the two countries should further expand connections in economics, trade and labour, she said.
Al-Qubaisi noted that in her country’s foreign policy, Vietnam has an important role in Asia and the Vietnamese delegation’s attendance at the Summit plays a vital role in bolstering bilateral relations.
The two legislatures should boost ties, contributing to the two Governments’ efforts to promote cooperation between the two nations, al-Qubaisi added.
The UAE is one of Vietnam’s leading partners in trade, investment and labour in the Middle East and the seventh largest importer of Vietnamese goods in the world.
Two-way trade in 2015 and the first nine months of this year hit US$ 6.3 billion and US$ 4.3 billion, respectively. The UAE is also a major Persian Gulf investor in Vietnam, with a total registered capital of US$ 4 billion. At present, about 5,000 Vietnamese labourers are working in the UAE.
