According to the Viet Nam Education Quality Management Agency under the Ministry of Education and Training, the two gold medallists were 12th graders Nguyen Dinh Tung, from the High School for the Gifted under the Ha Noi University of Science, Viet Nam National University – Ha Noi; and Nguyen Le Nhat Nam, from the High School for the Gifted under Ha Noi National University of Education.
Three silver medals were awarded to Pham Dang Nguyen from Ha Noi–Amsterdam High School for the Gifted; Tran Dai Thanh Danh from the High School for the Gifted, Viet Nam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; and Nguyen Hoang Phuong from Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Nghe An Province.
Ha Manh Hung, an 11th grader from Ha Noi–Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, won the bronze medal.
The 67th International Mathematical Olympiad took place from July 10 to 21 in Shanghai, China, bringing together 666 contestants from 119 delegations representing 119 countries and territories.
Contestants at IMO 2026 sat two exam days, each lasting 4.5 hours, tackling six complex proof‑based problems.
With a total team score of 168 points, Viet Nam unofficially ranked fifth among participating teams, behind China, the US, Russia and Singapore — an improvement of four places compared with the 2025 event.
