Dang Quang claimed first place in Group B for pianists under 15 years old while Quang Huy took second place in Group C for accordionists under 19 years old.

The annual summer contest aims to promote talented musicians between 12 and 37 years old, who perform before prestigious artists and music teachers during the competition. VNAM Associate Professor and Doctor, Meritorious Artist Luu Quang Minh was invited to be a member of the jury this year.

The 2012 event drew the participation of 128 musicians who competed in the piano and accordion categories, and 39 groups that performed chamber music.

This is the third time VNAM students have excelled at the competition. In 2006, pianist Luu Hong Quang came in third and he also ranked second at the 2008 event, for which no first prize was awarded. Also at the event, accordionist Tran Thi Thu Huong and pianist Luu Duc Anh earned fourth prizes.
