Based on data recently released by the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism, the number of international visitors to Viet Nam in 2025 reached a record of 21.2 million, up 20.4% compared with the same period last year.
According to Agoda’s latest figures, searches for accommodation in Viet Nam by international travellers in 2025 rose by 21% compared with 2024.
Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda Viet Nam, shared: “The increase in international visitors’ interest shows that Viet Nam continues to strengthen its position as a leading regional destination, thanks to convenient connectivity, improved visa policies, and diverse travel experiences.”
In terms of accommodation search volume for Viet Nam, the Republic of Korea continues the leading international market in the top five, with search interest up 15% year on year. Japan climbed to second place with an 18% increase, followed by the US. Thailand ranked fourth with a 36% rise, while the Philippines replaced Taiwan (China) to enter the top five, recording an impressive growth rate of 86% in 2025.
In general, the destination rankings have not changed significantly compared with 2024; however, the notable point in 2025 is the widespread growth in interest in destinations.
Regarding searches for accommodations in Viet Nam, Da Nang is in the lead, while international visitors’ interest in this city increased by 25% compared with the previous year. It is followed by Ho Chi Minh City (+26%), Nha Trang (+2%), Ha Noi (+23%), and completing the top five is Phu Quoc, which saw a 49% increase in interest year on year.
Along with the growth in international tourism, interest in domestic tourism has also shown positive momentum, with searches for accommodation in Viet Nam rising by 14% during 2025.
The Director of Agoda Viet Nam noted that the interest increasing trend in domestic travel shows that Vietnamese travellers continue to like local exploration experiences and short holiday in the country.
According to Agoda’s Travel Trends Report 2026, this trend is expected to continue to maintain this year, with nearly half of travellers saying they plan to prioritise domestic travel more than international travel in 2026.
In the domestic market, Da Nang continues to lead the growth rate in search among Vietnamese travellers, up 29% compared with the same period in 2024. Destinations such as Ha Noi (+28%) and Ho Chi Minh City (+17%) also recorded an increase in tourism interest, alongside other localities.
