During the talks, both sides agreed on several key areas of cooperation, including the construction of the Mong Cai (Vietnam) – Dongxing (China) Smart Border Gate; the promotion of a cross-border economic cooperation zone through industrial and trade collaboration at the Hai Yen Industrial Park and Van Ninh International Port in Mong Cai; the development of a cross-border e-commerce industrial zone; and the advancement of transportation connectivity projects between the two cities (including the Mong Cai – Dongxing international railway segment, Bac Luan III Bridge, and an auxiliary temporary steel bridge).
Additionally, both parties reached a consensus on cross-border tourism cooperation between Vietnam and China, covering self-driving tourism, one-day tours, new tourism products, and cross-border cycling activities. They also agreed on various activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the friendship between Mong Cai (Vietnam) and Dongxing (China).

Within the framework of the meeting, Ho Quang Huy, Chairman of the Mong Cai City People's Committee, and Li Jian, Mayor of the Dongxing Municipal People's Government, signed a memorandum of understanding on the cooperation mechanism and research for the development of a smart border gate. This serves as a foundation for promoting the implementation of the Mong Cai (Vietnam) – Dongxing (China) International Border Gate as a smart border gate pair.

This meeting aimed to concretise the contents of the 2025 new-year meeting among the Party secretaries of five provinces/autonomous regions and the 16th Joint Working Committee Conference between the provinces of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang, and Ha Giang (Vietnam) and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China). It also sought to promote friendly cooperation between the two localities in the coming period.
In recent years, foreign relations between Mong Cai (Vietnam) and localities in Guangxi (China) have been strengthened, becoming increasingly substantive, in-depth, and effective. Mong Cai is the only district-level locality in Vietnam honoured to receive the "Outstanding Friendly City Partner with China" award, selected by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. This recognition has increased strategic trust and elevated cooperation activities across various fields to new heights.
