Consul General Lai Xuan Chien highlighted the historical significance of the event on September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
“Over the past 78 years, under the leadership of the Party, the Vietnamese people have gained many great achievements and are always consistent to independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralisation, and deep integration into the region and the world. Currently, Vietnam is a destination attracting much interest from investors and tourists from many countries”, emphasised the Consulate General.
He also stressed the close cooperation and fine relationships between Vietnam and Cambodia, believing that Cambodia will reap further achievements under the leadership of King Norodom Sihamoni and the Government headed by Prime Minister Hun Manet.
Preah Sihanouk Provincial Governor Kouch Chamroeun congratulated Vietnam and sent greetings to the Vietnamese leaders and people, on the occasion of Vietnamese National Day.

He also expressed his delight and pride in the tradition of solidarity and mutual assistance between the two peoples. According to him, the fine relationship has brought about practical benefits to the people of both countries.
