14th National Assembly’s last session wraps up
The 14th National Assembly (NA) concluded its 11th session - the last of this tenure - in Hanoi on April 8.
The legislature spent a lot of time discussing and evaluating working reports from the NA, the State President, the Government, NA bodies, the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuracy, and the State Audit Office, he said.
The NA considered and decided to relieve, elect, and approve a number of positions in the State apparatus, ensuring democracy and compliance with the law while achieving a very high consensus.
In front of the national flag, the NA, and voters nationwide, the new NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh took their oaths of office.
At the closing session, with 436 votes in favour out of the 437 deputies present, or 90.83% of all lawmakers, the National Assembly passed a resolution on the 2016-2021 working plans of the NA, State President, Government, NA bodies, Supreme People’s Court, Supreme People’s Procuracy, and State Audit Office.
Lao-Viet International Port receives first container ship

The first container ship received at Lao-Viet International Port (Vung Ang Port).
Lao-Viet International Port JSC and Tan Cang Shipping held a ceremony on April 10 to receive the first container ship at Lao-Viet International Port (Vung Ang Port).
The shipment was transported by Tan Cang – Northern Logistics JSC from Tan Cang Port in Hai Phong to Lao-Viet International Port in Ha Tinh Province.
Vietnam has six billionaires on Forbes’ list of richest people
The US magazine Forbes has announced its 2021 list of richest people in the world, in which Vietnam has six representatives.
They include Vingroup Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong, Vietjet Air CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Hoa Phat Chairman Tran Dinh Long, Techcombank Chairman Ho Hung Anh, Thaco Chairman Tran Ba Duong, and Masan Chairman Nguyen Dang Quang.
This year marks the largest number of Vietnamese billionaires recorded on the list so far.
WHO highly values Vietnam’s vaccine regulation system

The National Regulatory Authority (NRA) of Vietnam has achieved Maturity Level 3 for vaccine regulation, the second highest level in the World Health Organisation (WHO)’s four-level NRA rating scale.
Level 3 represents a stable, well-functioning, and integrated regulatory system.
The NRA assessment was conducted by using the Global Benchmarking Tool of WHO to ensure the quality, safety, and effectiveness of vaccines.
Young Photography Festival 2021 launched
The Young Photography Festival 2021 has been launched for all Vietnamese citizens aged between 18 and 35 who are living inside or outside the country.
The festival aims to encourage the development of young photographers, contribute to the promotion of creative activities, and publish works that reflect contemporary life through the lens of the young Vietnamese photographer force.
Photographers can submit entries composed in 2020 and 2021 directly to http://www.festivalnhiepanhtre2021.com until June 30, 2021.
Vietnamese restaurant named among Asia's best

Pot au Pho – a dish celebrates the connection between Vietnamese national dish, pho, and French cuisine, hence the name which is adapt from French iconic dish Pot-au-feu.
The Anan Saigon, a restaurant that turns street food flavours into contemporary creations, was named Vietnam’s best restaurant in 2021 and 39th in Asia in the 'Asia's 50 Best Restaurants' list by the website theworlds50best.com.
The restaurant was founded by Peter Cuong Franklin, a Vietnamese-American chef who studied at Le Cordon Bleu and trained at world-famous restaurants including Caprice in Hong Kong (China), Alinea in Chicago and Nahm in Bangkok.
