The project has a total investment of US$137 million, of which US$100 million are sourced from ODA loans provided by the Republic of Korea (RoK) and the rest comes from the Vietnamese Government.
It will be carried out by the GS Engineering and Construction Corporation, and supervised by the joint venture Yooshin – Sambo, both from the RoK.
The bridge will link Highway 32 and Highway 2 and with a total length of 5,487m. Once completed after 36 months, it will help ease traffic pressure on Highways 2, 3, 6 and 32.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh said once opened to traffic, Vinh Thinh Bridge will make an important contribution to socio- economic development of Hanoi and northern provinces .
He asked the Transport Ministry and contractor to work together closely to speed up the progress and ensure quality of the project.
