The road has a total length of 31.9 kilometres and includes two sections, the first running 3.9 kilometres and featuring a width of 12 metres, while the second section is 28 kilometres long and 9 metres wide.
The project connects the five localities of Thang Binh, Tam Ky, Phu Ninh, Tien Phuoc, Bac Tra My, and will cost 768 billion VND (253.6 million USD), according to the provincial transport project management board.
The road is scheduled for completion in November 2025.
Quang Nam Vice Chairman Nguyen Hong Quang said the province’s southwest area has been identified as a centre for providing forestry products and medicinal materials for plants in the Chu Lai Economic Zone but currently it is mainly served only by National Highway 40B.
Therefore, the new road is highly significant in that it will improve access to the area and help boost provincial socio-economic development, said Quang.
