Speaking at the event, the Ho Chi Minh City Vice Chairman stated that the city has determined the supporting industry as a key sector to the sustainable development of the city’s economy.
But he noted the city has yet to tap into its full potential, with the supporting industry mainly serving low-tech manufacturing and relying on imports.
According to experts, if the city wants to develop a sustainable supporting industry, its industrial parks and export processing zones need to integrate positive factors of industrial park models throughout the world.
They said that during the post-industrial transition period, the city must add an ecosystem to connect enterprises in industrial parks and connect with regional and international supply chains.
Delegates also suggested creating an ecosystem to link secondary investors with infrastructure developers, so as to reduce the costs in using resources and protecting the environment in the orientation of sustainable development.
