* The Thai Army said three Thai soldiers were injured in a landmine explosion on Saturday morning during a patrol operation along the Thai-Cambodian border. However, Cambodia strongly refuted the Thai accusations.

* Tanzania's incumbent president Samia Suluhu Hassan officially collected her presidential nomination forms from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday, marking the start of her bid for the presidency in the Oct. 29 general elections.

* Russia's air defense systems shot down a Su-27 fighter jet of the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russian Defense Ministry said Saturday. In a bulletin, the ministry said its forces also destroyed two guided aerial bombs, two rockets fired from the U.S.-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system, and 457 aircraft-type drones.

* At least 365 people were arrested on Saturday at a protest in support of Palestine Action, a group proscribed as a terrorist organization in July, London's Metropolitan Police said on social media.

* Iran's Foreign Ministry on Saturday welcomed a recent peace agreement between its northern neighbors, Azerbaijan and Armenia, while expressing concern about foreign interference near common borders.

* Bernardo Mendia, secretary-general of the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry has criticized U.S. tariff policy, saying it marks another step in a worrying trend toward fragmentation of global trade.

* A total of 326 Afghan youths have joined the national army after completing four and a half months of military training, the Bakhtar news agency reported Saturday.

* The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has applauded the establishment of a U.S. government task force dedicated to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, calling it "essential" for ensuring universal participation and seamless operations at the Games.

* The ministerial committee mandated by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on Gaza, along with 23 countries, the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, on Saturday jointly voiced "strong condemnation and categorical rejection" of Israel's intention to impose full military control over Gaza.

* Syria's interim authority said Saturday it will not attend planned talks in Paris with the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), accusing the group of holding a "separatist" conference on Friday that undermined ongoing integration efforts.

* Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani on Saturday dismissed the commanders of two Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) brigades and referred individuals involved in a July 27 attack on a Baghdad government office to the judiciary.

* China reported positive signs in terms of both consumer and producer prices last month, as government policies to boost domestic demand continued to take hold.

* Brunei is intensifying efforts to achieve 100 percent self-sufficiency in rice production as part of its food security strategy, a government minister said on Saturday.

* The Maldivian government has attracted 108 foreign investments in about one year, a marked improvement from previous years, state-run PSM News reported on Saturday, quoting a senior minister.

* Mongolia's inflation, as measured by the consumer price index, eased to 8.1 percent in July, data from the country's National Statistics Office (NSO) showed Saturday.

* Around 1,000 people were evacuated and numerous homes destroyed after two wildfires broke out in Türkiye's northwestern Canakkale province on Friday, authorities said Saturday.

* China's national observatory renewed a yellow alert for rainstorms on Sunday, warning of downpours in some regions of the country.

* A powerful eruption occurred at Shinmoedake volcano in Japan's Kirishima mountain range around 5:23 a.m. local time on Sunday, sending an ash plume soaring more than 3,000 meters above the crater, local media reported.
