* Incumbent President David Adeang has been re-elected as president of Nauru for a second term following Saturday's national elections. The government of Nauru said in a post on social media that Adeang was elected unopposed as president during the inaugural sitting of the Micronesian nation's 25th parliament on Tuesday.

* Cameroon's Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji on Tuesday rejected opposition candidate Issa Tchiroma Bakary's claim of victory in Sunday's presidential election, calling it unconstitutional and "an act of extreme gravity."

* Visiting EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas announced on Monday that the bloc is preparing to allocate additional funds to support Ukraine during the upcoming winter, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported.

* As the U.S. federal government shutdown stretches into its third week, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned that the closure is already beginning to weigh on the real economy.
