World Sports News in Brief: Guardiola vows to attack Liverpool at Anfield

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola promised to stick by his principles and attack Liverpool in their Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday, despite admitting he is playing into his opponents' hands.

* Big-spending Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua were eliminated from the 2018 AFC Champions League with a game to spare on Tuesday (April 3) after drawing 2-2 with Kashima Antlers of Japan at home.

* Norway's biathlon superstar Ole Einar Bjorndalen, the most decorated male Winter Olympian in history, said on Tuesday (Apr 3) he would retire at the end of the season, at the age of 44. Since making his professional debut in March 1993, Bjorndalen went on to win 13 Olympic medals (eight gold, four silver and one bronze).

* Manny Pacquiao will fight Argentine welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse for the World Boxing Association (WBA) crown in Kuala Lumpur in July, promoter Oscar de la Hoya said. Matthysse beat Thailand's Tewa Kiram to win the vacant WBA welterweight belt in January and take his record to 38-4-0. Pacquiao is ranked second in the division and has an overall record of 57-6-2.

* Tottenham Hotspur have announced record revenue of US$431 million for the year ended June 30, 2017, boosted by their highest ever Premier League finish and a Champions League group stage campaign.

* Manchester United have announced they will introduce tickets costing 15 pounds (US$21) for 18-25-year-olds for the 2018-19 Premier League campaign, while freezing standard season ticket prices for a seventh consecutive year.

* China's Fan Zhendong has taken over the global number one spot for the first time in his career after he replaced German Timo Boll in the latest International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) world rankings released on April 3. The 21-year-old Fan, who had been the world number two since November 2015, claimed the Qatar Open last month to earn enough ranking points to rise to the top.
