‘Youth Volunteer Year’ to promote volunteer spirit among young people

Nhan Dan – The Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) has approved the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU) Central Committee’s proposal of 2014 as ‘Youth Volunteer Year’.

‘Youth Volunteer Year’ to promote volunteer spirit among young people

‘Youth Volunteer Year’ 2014 aims to promote the volunteerism of Vietnamese youth in socio-economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, while ensuring social security, urban civilisation and new rural construction.

The year is expected to contribute to improvements in the quality of youth union organisations and to gathering young people from around the country to extend the united national front.

Through the year’s programmed activities, the youth will improve themselves, practise a strict moral code and gain awareness of their great honour and responsibility in the cause of national construction and defence.

The CPVCC asked the HCMCYU to acquire opinions from relevant agencies to complete the project, selecting significant and current volunteer activities to contribute to the effective implementation of key programmes and plans of the Party and State during 2014.

The HCMCYU should also build and carry out specific action plans in line with the mission of the country's socio-economic development and the strengthening of national defence and security.
