Africa Day, observed on May 25, will be celebrated at the Government Guest House in Hanoi May 24 this year as a reminder of the promising prospects for the partnership between African countries and Vietnam.
The statement was released by Moroccan Ambassador to Vietnam Jamale Chouaibi, at a press conference held in Hanoi on May 24.
The celebration of Africa Day will feature the participation of leaders from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as representatives from the Embassies of eight African countries including Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria and South Africa.
Speaking at the press conference, Moroccan Ambassador to Vietnam Jamale Chouaibi said that this day is a broad opportunity to celebrate the socio-economic achievements and to showcase the diversity and the richness of the African culture, as well as the opportunities that Africa in general has to offer.

“It’s also an opportunity for us to reflect on ways and means how to further enhance cooperative links and partnerships between African countries and Vietnam”, he added.
The celebration of Africa Day, held by the Group of African Ambassadors, stands as a testimony to the principles of unity, solidarity, and cooperation. By enhancing cooperation, sharing knowledge, and addressing common challenges, African countries and Vietnam can forge a more just, prosperous, and inclusive world that benefits all.
According to the Moroccan Ambassador to Vietnam, Vietnam has a pretty important role and priority for Africa, so there is a strong political will to further deepen the partnership between these two partners.
For her part, the South African Ambassador to Vietnam Vuyiswa Gladys Tulelo stressed that they are trying to find a way to reintroduce Africa to Vietnam, through not only normal and exotic things such as the food, clothes and dances, but also other aspects.
The participants also affirmed that they will cooperate with Vietnamese partners to diversify activities celebrating Africa Day in the next years.
Today, Africa stands out as the land of opportunities, with vast potential for economic growth and development. The continent is expected to maintain an annual average growth above 4.3%. Annual growth of investments in Africa has reached 11%, and manufacturing industries are expected to attain 930 billion USD. The continent is home to 60% of the world's uncultivated arable land and 30% of the global reserve of minerals. It also possesses 10% of the world's natural gas.
These impressive figures show that the African continent has become a hub for several international partners and is gradually affirming its role as a growth driver of the world economy.
Africa Day is a momentous occasion to commemorate the founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was created on 25 May 1963 as the precursor of the African Union (AU).
