Agro-forestry-fishery imports rise by 12% in first four months

According to newly released data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Viet Nam’s import turnover of agro-forestry-fishery products in April 2026 was estimated at 5.06 billion USD, down 1.4% compared with the previous month but up 19% year on year.

Total import turnover of agro-forestry-fishery products in the first four months of 2026 is estimated at 17.65 billion USD, marking a 12% increase compared with the same period last year.

Of this, agricultural products accounted for 11.51 billion USD, up 16.2%; livestock products reached 1.75 billion USD, rising 25.3%; seafood imports stood at 1.05 billion USD, up 2.7%; and forestry products totalled 1.15 billion USD, increasing 24.1%. Meanwhile, imports of production inputs amounted to 2.17 billion USD, down 12.9%, while salt imports reached 14 million USD, surging 72.6%.

Asia and the Americas remained Viet Nam’s largest suppliers of agro-forestry-fishery products, accounting for 29.8% and 23.7% of the total, respectively. Other regionsheld smaller shares, such as Oceania, Europe, and Africa at 4%, 3.6%, and 3.6%, respectively. Compared with the same period last year, import value from Asia continued to increase, while imports from Europe declined by 4.8%.

In particular, the US, China, and Brazil were the three largest suppliers of agro-forestry-fishery products to Viet Nam, with market shares of 10.4%, 9.3%, and 8.3%, respectively. Year-on-year import value from the US rose by 41.7%, from China by 18.5%, and from Brazil by 15.3%.
