The production line, owned by Hai Phong Paint Joint Stock Company, is one of the largest and most modern of its kind in Vietnam with equipment imported from France's ABB company.
The production process is entirely controlled and monitored by automated software run by Vietnam-based ABB company.
Construction of the production line began in July 2013 with an investment of VND21 billion (US$987,000).
Alkyd is an important material in producing alkyd paint which is in high demand in domestic markets of with around 16,000 tonnes produced per year.
Vietnam now has three enterprises producing alkyd resin with a total capacity of over 8,000 tonnes per year. The operation of the 5,000-tonne production line will help reduce alkyd resin imported from foreign countries and meet demands of domestic businesses.
