The Ambassador had meetings with Asuncion Mayor Mario Anibal Ferreiro Sanabria and leaders of some departments of Paraguay’s Foreign Ministry.

At the meetings, Ambassador Dung proposed a number of measures to boost future collaboration in politics, economy, trade, investment, culture, education and tourism, as well as activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations in 2020.

The two sides reached consensus on action plans in 2019, including the increase of visits among ministries, sectors and localities of the two countries at different levels, and coordination in organising the Vietnam Day in Asuncion – Paraguay’s capital city this year.

Both sides shared information on the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) situation. The Paraguay side showed support to the plan to start negotiations for a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the MERCOSUR.

During his stay in Paraguay, Ambassador Dung had a talk at the Paraguay Academy of Diplomacy on the current situation in Vietnam, the country’s external policies as well as the Vietnam-Paraguay partnership.
