Titled "Mot thoi hoa lua" (A time of fire and glory), the event was organised by the Viet Nam Journalists Association in cooperation with relevant agencies. Senior Party and State officials attended the programme, including Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation Trinh Van Quyet.
Opening the event, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Viet Nam Journalists’ Association Nguyen Duc Loi highlighted the enduring role of revolutionary journalism in preserving the nation's historical memory. He paid tribute to generations of war correspondents who risked and, in many cases, sacrificed their lives to document the country's struggles for independence, leaving behind invaluable reports, photographs and films.
He said journalists today continue that mission by promoting gratitude, preserving historical values and inspiring younger generations to contribute to national development.
The programme also served as a heartfelt tribute to fallen heroes, wounded and sick veterans, the families of those who rendered service to the revolution, and all those who devoted their youth and made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation's independence, freedom and territorial integrity, he noted.
Structured in three chapters – ‘Setting out’, ‘Blood and flowers’ and ‘The homeland in bloom’ – the programme combined music and storytelling to revisit Viet Nam's wartime history while celebrating the peace achieved through the sacrifices of previous generations.
