The tournament is taking place from August 18 to 28 at Dong Anh Gymnasium, bringing together six men's teams divided into two groups. Group A comprises the army teams of Viet Nam, Myanmar, and Cambodia. Group B consists of the Ho Chi Minh City Public Security team, the Lao People's Army, and the Singapore Armed Forces. Under the tournament regulations, each team may register a maximum of 14 players.

Dong Anh Gymnasium meets international standards and has previously hosted numerous Southeast Asian and Asian tournaments.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lieutenant General Nguyen Ba Luc, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People's Army and Head of the Organising Committee, emphasised that the ASEAN Armies’ Open Volleyball Tournament 2026 proudly welcomes representatives of the armed forces of Cambodia, Singapore, Laos, and Myanmar, as well as the Ho Chi Minh City Public Security team and the Viet Nam People's Army team.

“This is a fine example of military sports culture and a symbol of friendly relations and cooperation for mutual development,” Luc said.

The tournament provides an opportunity for the armed forces of participating countries to interact, strengthen mutual understanding, and learn from one another. With the spirit of fair play and for a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and prosperous ASEAN, “through sports and cultural exchanges, we have greater confidence that we can overcome all difficulties and challenges together and work towards a brighter future,” Luc added.

The ASEAN Armies’ Open Volleyball Tournament 2026 is being held as ASEAN continues to strengthen regional integration and promote economic growth in the region and internationally under the spirit of “One Vision, One Identity, One Community”.

With the determination and support of the defence ministries of participating countries, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence has made thorough preparations for the tournament, ensuring the best possible conditions for the teams to compete, interact, and achieve their expected results.
