The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, member of the Party Central Committee; Truong Tan Sang, former Politburo member and former President; Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, former Politburo member and former National Assembly Chairwoman; Truong My Hoa, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee and former Vice President; leaders and former leaders of the Party and State at the Central level; heroic Vietnamese mothers, generals, and children of Ben Tre homeland; leaders and former leaders of Ben Tre Province; representatives of the armed forces and the long-haired army; religious dignitaries; businesses; social organisations; and a large number of people.

At the ceremony, the leaders of Ben Tre Province reviewed the glorious and heroic revolutionary tradition of Ben Tre Province, while also announcing the province's founding day; announcing the prime minister's decision to recognise January 17 as Ben Tre Province's traditional day; and announcing the decision to award the title of "Outstanding Dong Khoi Citizen" and "Honourary Dong Khoi Citizen" to eight individuals.
At the same time, Ben Tre Province launched the emulation movement "New Dong Khoi" to continue to complete the goals of economic, cultural and social development and ensure national defence and security.
These include spreading positivity, enthusiasm, passion for creativity, and the aspiration to rise up with pride and love while making specific contributions to the homeland of Ben Tre.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long acknowledged, commended, and warmly congratulated the important achievements that Ben Tre Province has achieved in the past time, congratulated the individuals honoured and awarded the noble titles today.
The deputy prime minister requested the Party Committee, government, army, and people of Ben Tre to continue to preserve and foster the great national solidarity bloc; constantly improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party organisation and Party members; and together consolidate solidarity and unity within the Party Committee and the entire political system to create consensus among all classes of people.
