The stable and sustainable development of the Viet Nam–China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership brings long-term benefits to both peoples and is in line with the trend of the times.

Viet Nam and China are close neighbours, with mountains and rivers linked as one. They have given each other great support and assistance throughout their glorious yet difficult revolutionary journeys. China received and created the best possible conditions for Vietnamese officials, pupils, and students to study and conduct research, enabling them to bring back valuable knowledge that contributed to the success of Viet Nam’s revolutionary cause.

Since the two countries established the framework of a Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership in 2008, Viet Nam–China relations have made strong and comprehensive progress. In particular, visits by senior leaders of the two Parties and two States in recent years have carried strategic significance and had a lasting impact on the development of bilateral ties, at a time when both countries are entering a new era of development.

Built on the solid foundation of enduring neighbourly friendship and the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, the Viet Nam–China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance has in recent years helped cooperation between the two countries achieve many positive results.

China remains Viet Nam’s largest trading partner, while Viet Nam is China’s largest trading partner in ASEAN. In 2025, bilateral trade reached 256.4 billion USD. In particular, the potential and scope for cooperation between the two countries remain vast. In addition to the economy, trade, and investment, Viet Nam–China relations have continued to be strongly advanced in such areas as security and defence, education and training, and culture and tourism.

People-to-people exchanges between the two countries have also continued to gain strong momentum, achieving many notable results. During the Year of Viet Nam-China Humanistic Exchange in 2025, the two sides promoted a wide range of vibrant and practical activities focused on connecting the two peoples, especially young people, thereby deepening mutual understanding and further strengthening Viet Nam–China friendship.

The reality of the past more than 76 years has shown that consolidating and developing the good neighbourly friendship between Viet Nam and China is fully in line with the aspirations of the two peoples and is of great importance to the sustainable development of each country. Against the backdrop of unpredictable developments in the world and the region, the younger generations of the two countries bear the great responsibility of inheriting and carrying forward the tradition of friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and China, bringing fresh vitality and opening an even brighter future for bilateral relations.
