Ceremony marks 50th anniversary of Nong Son – Trung Phuoc Victory

A ceremony was held in Nong Son District, Quang Nam Province on July 18 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Nong Son – Trung Phuoc Victory (1974-2024).

Addressing the event, Quang Van Ngoc, Secretary of the Nong Son District Party Committee recalled the major developments of the victory 50 years ago.

He hailed, that the victory liberated Nong Son District, destroyed the enemy's southwest defence line, and created favourable conditions to support Vietnamese political and armed forces to gain control in many other places.

Together with subsequent Thuong Duc Victory and other victories on the battlefield of Region 5, the Nong Son-Trung Phuoc Victory opened up good prospects to open military campaigns to liberate the Central Highlands and Da Nang City, which then led to the liberation of the south and the liberation of the entire country in spring 1975.

For his part, the Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee Le Van Dung, hailed the Nong Son – Trung Phuoc Victory as a glorious and proud milestone of the heroic Nong Son land.

He noted that upholding the heroic tradition, Nong Son District has overcome difficulties and gained positive achievements.

He called on the local Party committee, authorities, and people, to make further efforts to fulfil the district’s development goals.
