Speaking at the event, Vice President of the Viet Nam–China Friendship Association's chapter in Ho Chi Minh City (VCFA HCMC) Tran Khang Chien said that in the new development phase of Ho Chi Minh City, with greater space and resources, the HUFO and the VCFA HCMC will continue to promote people-to-people diplomacy, strengthen exchanges, and further deepen the traditional friendship between Viet Nam and China, bringing tangible benefits to the people of both countries.

Extending congratulations to the Chinese people, Chien stressed that Viet Nam and China are good neighbours, good friends, good comrades, and good partners. He recalled that the relationship, founded by Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Mao Zedong and nurtured by generations of leaders and citizens, has grown stronger over time and is a precious asset shared by the two nations.

On the basis of sound bilateral ties, Ho Chi Minh City has seen robust development in economic, trade and investment cooperation with China. Currently, China ranks 16th among countries and territories investing in the city. Bilateral trade turnover reached 24.4 billion USD in 2024, with 11.78 billion USD recorded in the first half of 2025.

Alongside economic cooperation, people-to-people and cultural exchanges have flourished. The HUFO and the VCFA HCMC, in coordination with the Chinese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, have carried out numerous activities in culture, education, and sports, contributing to stronger ties between the city and Chinese localities.

For his part, Chinese Consul General in HCM City Tang Li expressed appreciation for the ceremony, noting that under the guidance of the two Parties’ leaders, the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Viet Nam and China has been continuously deepened.

He highlighted close coordination between the Consulate General and the VCFA HCMC in promoting traditional friendship in southern Viet Nam through delegation exchanges, historical seminars, and people-to-people activities.

He affirmed China’s commitment to working closely with the HUFO to advance mutual understanding, build trust, foster exchanges, and contribute to strengthening the China-Viet Nam comprehensive strategic partnership and the building of a shared future community of strategic significance.
