Clean water supply system inaugurated in Can Gio district

Former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Le Hoang Quan, and representatives from ministries and sectors attended the event, along with residents of the city.

Work began on the water supply system on January 26, 2010, with a total investment of VND 821 billion (nearly US$40 million). The system has 41,939 metres of pipeline and three pumping stations with a capacity of 21,500 - 39,000 cubic metres per day. The construction of the No.1 pumping station is scheduled to be completed in October, 2011.

To date, the system has directly provided 6,000 cubic metres of clean water every day for the people in Can Gio district.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai spoke highly of the municipal leaders' responsibility for the lives of people in Can Gio district. He also said that the new water supply system will help promote local economic development.
