Earlier, on August 18, the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) announced that incumbent President Hakainde Hichilema had won the country’s presidential election.
Securing more than 50% of the valid votes, Hakainde Hichilema won outright in the first round, avoiding the need for a run-off and securing a second consecutive term in office.
