Chau said it provided a good opportunity for the Hai Phong Women Union to share their experience in promoting gender equality and powering women’s participation in political, economic and social activities.
The Hai Phong leader said he was impressed by the outstanding results of the Cuban Women Federation, especially the high rate of women’s participation in the Party and State apparatus as well as in other social areas.
He also briefed the Cuban delegation on basic information about Hai Phong and the political, economic and social achievements that the city has recorded in recent years.
For her part, Secretary General of the Cuban Women Federation Teresa María Amarelle Boué thanked the Hai Phong leaders for their warm reception and expressed her impression of the city’s development.
She informed the host about Cuba’s national development pillars as well as its measures to enhance the performance of state-owned enterprises and develop small and ultra-small companies.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed many issues of shared concern in economic development as well as shared experience in building new rural areas and promoting gender equality and women’s advancement.
As part of the visit to Hai Phong, the Cuban women delegation attended the ao dai festival and visited a number of enterprises and social facilities in the city.
