The opening ceremony witnessed the competition between hosts Da Nang - Vietnam and Fireworks Centre Khan from Russia, under which each team displayed approximately 20 minutes of fireworks.
This is the 10th year that Da Nang has hosted the event and the third year that the event has been held by the real estate developer Sun Group.
Besides a light party on the Han River, visitors also enjoyed an art programme with the participation of a number of well-known artists from home and abroad.
The fireworks competitions between Brazil and Belgium, Finland and Italy, and the UK and China are scheduled to be held on June 8, June 15 and June 22, respectively..
The two best teams of the eight will compete on the final night, slated for July 6.\The festival will run for over a month until July 6.
